With all the way to connect your Dish Network receiver to the internet, how about connecting with a 2wire wireless gaming adapter. I will be using the 2wire wireless adapter from the 1022 At&t Homezone on a Vip 612 receiver.

What I am showing you will also work with all the Vip and K series Dish Network receivers. This 2wire gaming adapter can also work on your Xbox, PS3, Pc, laptop etc. To setup you 2wire gaming adapter with your Dish Network receiver you will need the following:

Computer
2Wire Wireless Gaming Adapter
Wireless Router “I’m using a 2wire 2700 HG-B
Vip, K series or receiver with ethernet

The first thing that you must do to setup your dish network receiver with the wireless gaming adapter is to configure the gaming adapter to be able to talk with your wireless router. So what you will need to do is plug the 2wire wireless adapter directly into your router and power the wireless adapter on. Then point a web browser to your routers default gateway. This will usually be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254.

Once your web browser open up your wireless router’s default gateway screen look for an option that will allow you to see the ip address of 2wire wireless gaming adapter. Once you find the wireless located in the list, click on view details to see the ip address.

Now that you have the ip address of the gaming adapter, you will now need to type this address into your web browser. You should now see a screen that resembles the image below, which will allow you to change setting on the 2wire gaming adapter.

Open up the wireless setting option from the list on the left side of the screen. Within screen you can now see a list of all the local wireless networks within range of the adapter. Pick your wireless network from the list and fill in the detail for you security encryption. The only problem is that 2wire gaming adapter does not work WPA2, but works with WEP and WPA.

After you have configured you wireless adapter, unplug it from you router and now plug it into your Dish Network receiver. Once you plug in the power cord, press the menu button on your dish network remote. Then press:

#6 for system setup
#1 for installation
#8 for broadband setup
#1 for Network Setup

Now all you have to do is reset your connection to acquire the ip address from the gaming adapter for the dish network receiver. If you see a 0.0.0.0 then there is a problem.

Your Dish Network receiver is now online and ready to begin downloading content from Dish On Demand. Just press the DVR button and press #5 for Dish ONLINE. If you have any problems make sure that you have setup port forwarding for the port range of 2200 – 2299.

This begins a series of articles on how to communicate with people who have different behavioral styles than you do people who can be intimidating, maddening, confusing, or downright irritating. The four DISC behavioral styles are based on the model defined by psychologist William Moulton Marston in his book, The Emotions of Normal People.

THE D (DOMINANCE) STYLE

In this article we’ll get a better understanding of how to deal with people who have a high D (Dominance) behavioral style. The D factor in our behavioral profile determines how we handle problems and challenges. Dominant Dan has no problem running the show. If he has a strong Core D style (Dominance is his highest factor), he’ll tend to be demanding, bold, driving, pioneering, direct, competitive, and determined. Dan must have authority equal to his responsibility in any situation; if not, he’ll find a way to take control sometimes to his detriment.

Dominant Dan has qualities that others with the same style admire; yet those who are low in the D factor see as liabilities or even as obnoxious behaviors. They include a willingness to take risks and a strong desire to win. Dan is results-oriented, argumentative, and quick to challenge. He doesn’t mind making mistakes; he’ll just correct them and move on.

D STYLE LIMITATIONS

If you’re like Dan, you need to know areas in which you are limiting your effectiveness. For example, you may act or speak before thinking, be impatient, create fear in others, try to juggle too much at once, interrupt and not listen well.

If youre low in the D factor you tend to be peaceful, agreeable, cooperative, cautious, humble, mild. You tend to think through a situation before making a decision. So you can see how people with low D factors can be intimidated by Core D Styles, and how Dominant Dan might get impatient with them.

If you work or live with those who have a Core D style, here are some of the ways in which to communicate and not communicate with them to be effective:

DO:

Be clear, specific, brief, and to the point Stick to business, be prepared and organized Be efficient

DON’T:

Ramble or waste their time socializing Forget/lose things or be disorganized Make decisions for them

If you disagree, don’t take issue with them personally.

COMMUNICATION TIPS

When communicating with Dominant Dan use direct eye contact, shake hands firmly, and use linear gestures. Your attitude should be confident and your tone of voice strong, clear, and direct.

Understand that this type of person wants to be in control. That doesn’t mean you have to let them dominate you; indeed they respect those who stand up to them. If you’re the type of person who dislikes confrontation, understand that Dan has no problem with it and at times thrives on it. Don’t let him bully you and yet try not to take his bossiness personally. It may help to realize that you probably do things that drive him nuts, too!

The UK Government’s initiative to prescribe a security standard to any organization accessing the Government Connect Secure Extranet is a move designed to keep government organisations one step ahead of the inexorable increase in security threats. There have been too many high profile data thefts and losses by Government organizations, highlighting both the risk to, and the importance of, ICT Security and the governance of citizens’ data.

The result is the Government Connect Secure Extranet (GCSx). HM Government has mandated the way in which public authorities and government departments can securely transfer data between each other.

So, for example, how does a local authority needing Housing Benefits data access the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) database? Via the GCSx of course! Similarly, Job Centre Plus communications with local authorities will only accept communications via the GCSx, and likewise, communications with the Police and the NHS will only be provided through this connection.

The concept is a “community of trust” and the GCSx is one of a number of secure Government extranets, including GSx, GSi and GCJx. See our Glossary of Terms at the end for details of these other networks.

So how does a district council access the GCSx? Via a secure connection, the security of which is governed by the Code of Connection, or ‘CoCo’.

The GCSx CoCo

In England and Wales it is referred to as the GCSX Code of Connection (CoCo). In Scotland it is referred to as the GSX Code of Connection (CoCo). Through GCSx, local authorities can connect to the Government Secure Extranet (GSX) and Intranet(GSI), the National Health Service (NHS), Criminal Justice Extranet (CJX), and the Police National Network (PNN). The Code of Connection takes into consideration how best to protect the “community of trust” taking into account all potential threats, including Attack from the GCSx itself Attack from the Internet Mobile data theft and loss Attack from the internal user

Code of Connection (CoCo) for the Government Secure Intranet (GSI) and GCSx, Memorandum Number 22. According to CESG Infosec Memorandum Number 22, protective monitoring has traditionally been the most underrated and least effectively used security measure. The scope of the GCSx Code of Connection can be summarised as follows Physical Security and Access Control, restrict and control access to the GCSx, including use of Firewalls, Intrusion Protection technology and with particular focus on Mobile/Remote Worker security Policies and Procedures, in particular Change Management Processes, approvals and documentation. Configuration ‘hardening’, to ensure that known threats and vulnerabilities are eliminated from all systems, with a zealous patch management process combined with anti-virus technology, regularly tested and verified as secure.
